CHATHAM TABS SLEZAK AS HEAD TENNIS COACH (9/1/12)
After one season as assistant coach, Brett Slezak has been promoted to head tennis Coach at Chatham University following the resignation of former coach Allan Quackenbush. Slezak takes over the program effective immediately.
PAC SET TO DEBUT NEW SITE
ON SEPTEMBER 19 (8/30/12)
Earlier this spring the PAC teamed up with SIDEARM Sports to develop a new and improved pacathletics.org. Well, the concepts and design are locked in and we're excited to announced that our launch date will be Wednesday, September 19. The new pacathletics.org includes a custom SIDEARM site design that highlights past and present PAC student-athletes while incorporating the latest features in video and social media integration and exclusive content surrounding the conference and its membership.

Grove City College used six first-place votes to secure the top spot on the 2012 PAC Men's Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Poll, narrowly edging two-time reigning conference champion Saint Vincent College for top billing. KNAPP NAMED HEAD SOFTBALL COACH AT CHATHAM (8/21/12)
Chatham University Director of Athletics Scott Koskoski announced Tuesday the hiring of Kelsey Knapp as Head Softball Coach. Knapp arrives at Chatham with nine years of softball experience both as a decorated former player and coach at both the Division I and Division III levels.
W&J NAMES BROOKE TURNER HEAD VOLLEYBALL
COACH (8/6/12)
Washington & Jefferson College Director of
Athletics Bill Dukett
announced the hiring of Brooke Turner as the Presidents' head
volleyball coach Monday. Turner had previously served as the
head volleyball coach at Division II West Liberty State University
since 2007. She was also an adjunct professor at West Liberty,
teaching health and physical education classes.
FOUR-TIME CHAMPION THOMAS MORE PICKED TO REPEAT
AS 2012 PAC CHAMPIONS (8/2/12)
Four-time defending conference champion Thomas More College has been
picked to capture the 2012 football championship in the Presidents'
Athletic Conference (PAC), according to
the preseason poll released at the 2012 PAC Football Media Day
at Saint Vincent College today. Voters in the poll included
conference head coaches, sports information directors and members of
the media present at the conference media day.
TMC'S BOOKER NOMINEE FOR AFCA GOOD WORKS TEAM

Thomas More College senior defensive back Antonio Booker is
one of 117
nominees for the 2012 Allstate American Football Coaches Association
(AFCA) Good Works Team. The Good Works Team puts a spotlight on
the countless "good works" and remarkable stories of service by
student-athletes at all levels of college football competition. In
order to meet the criteria set forth by Allstate and the AFCA, each
player must be actively involved and committed to working with a
charitable organization, service group or community service while
maintaining a strong academic standing.
EIGHT MBB PLAYERS NAMED TO 2011-12 NABC HONORS
COURT (7/24/12)
Six members of the Waynesburg University men's basketball program,
along with a pair of players from Thomas More College, were
recently recognized by the
National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as members of
the 2011-12 NABC Honors Court. The NABC Honors Court recognizes
collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics
during the 2011-12 season.
WAYNESBURG ANNOUNCES ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT
CHANGES (7/24/12)
The Waynesburg University Department of Athletics has
announced several changes as it prepares for the 2012-13
academic year. Chief among the personnel moves is the hiring of
former men's basketball assistant Larry Marshall as the
school's Director of Athletics. Pat Bristor, currently
Waynesburg’s Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student
Activities, will return to the athletic department with the
additional title of Associate Director of Athletics, while L.
Randy Pettit, D.C. will serve as the Yellow Jackets’ Strength
and Conditioning Coordinator as well as the school's Fitness Center
Director. Head men's basketball coach Mark Christner will
also take over as the school's NCAA Compliance Officer.
ITA RECOGNIZES FIVE PROGRAMS, 25 STUDENT-ATHLETES WITH ACADEMIC
HONORS (7/23/12)
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has recently announced
its 2012 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes, and
five PAC programs were tabbed with
ITA All-Academic team honors while 25 student-athletes earned
ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction. The women's programs at Grove City
College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College were honored
while the men's programs at Grove City and Waynesburg were also
recognized for their academic achievements.
THREE VOLLEYBALL PROGRAMS EARN AVCA ACADEMIC HONORS (7/20/12)
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today
that 533 teams have earned the
AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2011-2012 season. Helping the
AVCA achieve a new all-time high for the award are the PAC women's
volleyball programs at Geneva College, Thiel College and Westminster
College. The award honors programs that displayed excellence in the
classroom during the academic year by maintaining at least a 3.30
cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
GRAF HIRED AS PAC COORDINATOR OF SOFTBALL OFFICIALS (7/16/12)
The PAC has hired
Kathie Graf
as the conference's coordinator of softball officials.
Graf, a NCAA softball umpire with over 25
years of experience, is an active official in many of the nation’s
top Division I softball-playing conferences and has considerable
experience umpiring major conference championship tournaments. She
currently works as a collegiate assigner at the NCAA Division II and
III levels as well as the NAIA in Ohio, working with schools
including Case Western Reserve University, Walsh University,
Ursuline College and Notre Dame College. Graf has extensive
experience working with and training amateur umpires throughout the
country as a camp director and evaluator at many umpire-qualifying
camps and started the Greater Akron Cleveland Umpire Association in
1999.
BETSY WARREN NAMED HEAD SOCCER COACH AT CHATHAM (7/16/12)
Chatham University
has announced the hiring of Betsy Warren as head women's
soccer coach. Warren spent the 2011 season as head coach of the
women’s soccer program at the University of Pittsburgh at
Greensburg. From 2009-2011, Warren served as Director of Operations
and Youth Development for the Penns Forest Football Club. Warren was
an assistant women’s soccer coach at Carnegie Mellon University from
2007-2009. She began her collegiate coaching career at Ashland
University, where she was an assistant men’s and women’s coach from
2004-2007. As a student-athlete, Warren was a standout soccer player
at NCAA Division I Radford University.
2012 PAC FOOTBALL MEDIA DAY SET FOR AUGUST 2 IN LATROBE (7/11/12)
The 2012
Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Football Media Day will
once again be hosted by Saint Vincent College in Latrobe on
Thursday, August 2, in conjunction with Pittsburgh Steelers training
camp. The annual media day event serves as the kickoff to the
football season with each of the conference’s nine football coaches
addressing the media and previewing the upcoming season for each of
their respective programs. The conference preseason poll will be
released that day, while video of the Q&A sessions will be available
here following the event.
BUXTON TABBED AS NEW GROVE CITY HEAD TENNIS COACH (7/6/12)
Grove City College
has hired
Jeff Buxton as assistant professor of physical education and
head men's and women's tennis coach. He
replaces Joe Walters, who retired
from Grove City College at the end of the 2011-12 academic year
after 40 years of service.
Buxton comes to Grove City after spending nine years as the general
manager of One on One Fitness Consultants in State College, Pa. The
native of Wyoming, Pa., earned a bachelor's degree in
kinesiology/movement science from Penn State in 2003 and completed
his master of science at California (Pa.) in 2010.
ROUD STEPS DOWN AS WESTMINSTER WOMEN'S GOLF COACH (7/3/12)
Debi Roud ,
a three-time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Golf
Coach of the Year,
has resigned as Westminster's
head women's golf coach. Debi, who was the pioneer coach of the
program when she was hired to guide the newly established team in
2001, will be taking over as the head teacher at the Westminster
Preschool. Debi will be a part-time volunteer assistant coach so
that she can remain in a limited capacity with the program she
helped build from the start.
Jeff Roud,
Debi's husband, will be the new head coach starting this Fall. Jeff
has been a volunteer assistant the last several years. In
2012, Westminster garnered its third PAC women's golf crown and its
first since 2005.
PAC ANNOUNCES NEW CONFERENCE OFFICERS FOR 2012-13 (7/2/12)
Brother Norman W. Hipps, O.S.B., president at Saint Vincent
College, will serve as the chair of
the PAC Presidents' Council in the 2012-13 academic year,
starting July 1, 2012. Hipps succeeds Dr. Richard G. Jewell, J.D.,
president at Grove City College, who served as the chair of the PAC
Presidents' Council in 2011-12. With Br. Norman assuming the chair
of the PresidentsR17; Council, the other standing PAC councils will
also be chaired by Saint Vincent representatives in the upcoming
academic year. Rev. Myron Kirsch, O.S.B., Saint VincentR17;s
athletic director, will serve as the chair of the PAC Athletic
Administrators (AA) Council, while assistant athletic director
Sue Hozak will chair the PAC Senior Woman Administrators Council
(SWAC) in 2012-13. The PAC Faculty Athletic Representatives
Association (PAC FARA) will be chaired by Dr. Rob DePasquale,
a professor of accounting at Saint Vincent.
