2012 SPRING TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS (5/18/12)
The PAC has announced the
2012 Spring PAC Team
Sportsmanship Award winners. The PAC Team Sportsmanship Award
program was started in an effort to recognize and encourage positive
sportsmanship among conference teams. The award is sponsored by the
PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). This is the fourth year
the team sportsmanship awards will be given out in each of the 19
PAC-sponsored varsity sports.
W&J PLACES 34TH AT NCAA D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS (5/16/12)
Washington & Jefferson finished in 34th place at the
2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship Tournament on May
16 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The
Presidents missed the team cut for the final two rounds as the top
15 teams will advance to compete for the national title.
W&J shot a two-day score of 644 (316-328) in the 41-team,
210-golfer field. The Presidents were led by
sophomore PING All-Region honoree Colin Izzo, who tied
for 82nd place in the individual standings after shooting
80-74-154.
W&J TO OPEN PLAY AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS (5/15/12)
The
Washington & Jefferson men's golf team will tee off at 10:20 a.m.
Tuesday (May 15) to open play at the
2012 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships, taking place at
the Mission Inn Resort at Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. The PAC champion
Presidents of head coach Sean Dove are paired with players from
Illinois Wesleyan and LaGrange in the first two rounds, with
Wednesday (May 16) tee times beginning at 8:40 a.m. After
Wednesday's round, the 41-team field will be cut to the top 15 teams
for play on Thursday-Friday.
PAC SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP CANCELLED; W&J MEN, SVC'S CLINE
CAPTURE 2011-12 PAC TEAM/MVP TITLES (4/23/12)
The 2012 PAC Men's & Women's Golf
Spring Championship, a 36-hole event scheduled for April 23-24, 2012
at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pa., has been cancelled
due to poor weather/course conditions. As a result, the 2011-12 PAC
golf team titles and postseason award winners have been determined
exclusively by the 36-hole results of the 2011 PAC Fall Golf
Invitational, which took place September 26-27, 2011 at Oak Tree
Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa. Traditionally, the PAC team
champions are determined by a 72-hole total that combines the
36-hole fall results with the 36-hole spring results, while
individual All-PAC honors are determined exclusively by spring
results. On the men's side, Washington
& Jefferson College finished with a 36-hole total of 295-305-600 to
capture the team title by five strokes over second place Saint
Vincent (294-311-605). For the women,
Westminster College captured its third PAC women's golf crown and
its first since 2005, as the Titans fired a 36-hole fall total of
381-377-758 to edge W&J (383-377-760) by two strokes. 2012 PAC
Coach of the Year laurels went to W&J coach Sean Dove for the
men and Westminster coach Debi Roud for the women. 2012 MVP
laurels went to Fall Invitational medalists Sam Cline of
Saint Vincent and Esther Durling of Grove City.
PAC SET TO CROWN 2012 M&W GOLF TITLES (4/18/12)
The PAC will sponsor three spring sport championships at neutral
sites during the coming week. On Friday-Saturday (April 20-21), the
2012 PAC Men's Tennis
Championships will take place at the Pennbriar Athletic Club
in Erie, Pa., with play beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day. On
Monday-Tuesday (April 23-24), the
2012 PAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships will take place
at Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon, Pa., with tee times
beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. There is no
admission charge to either event. The team champions in both men's
tennis and men's golf will each receive the PAC's automatic bids to
the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships.

W&J MEN EARN TEAM TITLE; CLINE CAPTURES MEDALIST HONORS AT 2011 PAC FALL GOLF INVITATIONAL (9/27/11)
The 2011 PAC Fall Men's & Women's Golf Invitational
took place on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-27 at Oak Tree Country Club in West
Middlesex, Pa.
The men's race saw defending PAC champion Washington & Jefferson
overcome a one-shot deficit after day one by firing a 295-305-600 to

competition. Individual medalist was

The 2011 PAC Fall Men's Golf Invitational got underway on
Monday, Sept. 26 at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa.
Saint Vincent fired a four-man total of
294 to take the 18-hole team lead, one stroke ahead of defending
PAC champion Washington & Jefferson (295). The Bearcat linksters
were paced by Sam Cline, who holds the individual lead by two
strokes after firing a 35-33-68 (-3). The
36-hole PAC Fall Golf Invitational counts for half of the 72-hole team total (combined
with the 2012 PAC Golf Championship this coming April) which will
determine the 2011-12 PAC golf team champions.

now online. The 2011 PAC Fall Golf Inivtational takes place this

KAMER NAMED HEAD COACH AT THOMAS MORE (8/12/11)
Marty Kamer has been named the new Thomas More
head men's golf coach. He replaces Cory
Blackson, who resigned but retains his duties as sports
information director. Kamer, who has an 8.8 USGA handicap index,
earned his undergraduate degree from Bellarmine. For the past
two years he has worked in various positions at Lassing Pointe
Golf Course in Union, Kentucky.

W&J PLACES 27TH AT NCAA D-III CHAMPIONSHIP (5/12/11)
Washington & Jefferson shot its second-lowest round of the
season, but still missed the cut Wednesday following the
second round of the
2011
NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Tournament at the Grandover
Resort in Greensboro, N.C. The top 15 teams advance to the final
two rounds. W&J placed 27th in the 40-team field with a two-day
score of 615 (314-301). Washington & Jefferson finished 15
strokes back of the cut line. The Presidents were led in the
second round by freshman Brian Omslaer, who shot a
season-low score of one-under par 71. Omslaer, whose previous
collegiate-best score was 76, finished in a tie for 84th place
with 152 strokes.
W&J OPENS PLAY AT D-III CHAMPIONSHIP TUESDAY (5/9/11)

2011 PAC champion Washington & Jefferson men's golf team opens
play on Tuesday at the 2011 NCAA Division III Men's Golf

The Washington & Jefferson men and Grove City women each
captured team titles at the conclusion of the two-day 2011 PAC
Golf Championships for both men
and women, held April 26-27 at Oak Tree
Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa. The 36-hole Fall
Invitational and 36-hole spring Championship combine for a
72-hole total to determine the 2010-11 PAC golf champions. The
Presidents fired a final round four-player total of 318 to
finish with 613-620-1233, comfortably ahead of defending PAC
champion Thomas More (640-627-1267) in second place. The Wolverine women fired a
final round four-player score
of 354 to finish at 567-713-1280, well ahead of defending PAC
champion W&J (589-752-1341). In individual competition, 2011
PAC MVP honors went to medalists Brandon Dulle
(75-73-148) of Thomas More and Arielle Goyzueta
(87-81-168) on Grove City, while 2011 PAC Coach of the Year
laurels were given to PAC champion coaches Sean Dove of
W&J (men) and Melissa Lamie of Grove City (women).

The Washington & Jefferson men and Grove City women extended
their team leads following the 36-hole PAC Fall Invitational
during the first day of competition at the two-day 2011 PAC
Golf Championships for both men
and women, held Tuesday at Oak Tree
Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa. The 36-hole Fall
Invitational and 36-hole spring Championship combine for a
72-hole total to determine the 2010-11 PAC golf champions. The
Presidents fired a four-man total of 302 to post a 54-hole total
of 613-302-915, comfortably ahead of Grove City (636-318-954)
and defending PAC champion Thomas More (640-318-954), who are
tied for second. The Wolverine women fired a four-player score
of 359 to finish at 567-359-926, well ahead of defending PAC
champion W&J (589-377-966). In individual competition, Tyler
Fewell of W&J led the men Tuesday with a 72 (+1), while
fellow President Catherine Schlegel (83) paced the PAC
women. Final round play begins Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.,
with
final round tee times now online.
2011 PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS OPEN TUESDAY (4/25/11)
The 2011 PAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships will take
place at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa., this
Tuesday-Wednesday (April 26-27),
with tee times starting at 10
a.m. for the men and 11:40 a.m. for the women on Tuesday,
followed by 8:30 a.m. tee times for both men and women on Wednesday.
The 36-hole event is combined with the 36 holes already played at
the 2010 PAC Fall Golf Invitational for a 72-hole team total
to determine the PAC team champions for 2010-11. The Thomas More men
and W&J women are the defending 2009-10 PAC champions, however, the
36-hole team totals have the W&J men
and Grove City women in the lead.
All-PAC individual honors are determined solely by the 36-hole
totals this spring. Admission to the event is free of charge, while
results will be hosted here both evenings.

College women have taken the lead in team competition following
the first day of play at the two-day, 36-hole 2010 PAC Fall

fired a four-man, 18-hole total of 300 to lead second-place
Grove City (316) by 16 strokes. Women's play, which was
shortened to nine holes due to inclement weather conditions,
saw the Wolverines fire a
four-player total of 184, two strokes ahead of W&J. In
individual play, W&J senior Brad Cieslinski fired an
even-par 71 to lead the men, while Toula Scordilis of W&J
and Jessica Johansen are tied for the women's lead after

BLACKSON NAMED COACH AT THOMAS MORE (7/12/10)
Cory Blackson
has been named the new head men's golf coach at Thomas More,
replacing Marc Barone. Blackson, who is entering his
third year as sports information director at TMC, inherits a
team that is coming off its best season in school history as it
won the 2010 PAC Championship and finished tied for 22nd at the
NCAA Division III Championship. He previously served as the
assistant men's golf coach at Capital University

THOMAS MORE WINS 2010 PAC CHAMPIONSHIP (4/20/10)
The 2010 PAC Men's Golf Championships
concluded on Tuesday, April 20, at Oak Tree Country Club in West
Middlesex, Pa., with Thomas More College clinching its
first-ever conference golf crown. The Saints fired a 36-hole
total of 313-299-612, which coupled with a 599 at the
PAC Fall
Invitational resulted in a 72-hole score of 1211, 16 strokes
ahead of four-time defending PAC champion Washington & Jefferson
(1227). Thomas More head coach Marc Barone was honored as
2010 PAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the
tournament. In individual competition, junior Ted Marron
of W&J earned 2010 PAC MVP honors after firing a 36-hole
total of 72-72-144 (+2), three strokes ahead of Saint Vincent
senior teammates Jeff Varga and Doug Mehall (147).

W&J TIGHTENS RACE FOR 2010 PAC GOLF TITLE (4/19/10)
The first round of play at the 2010 PAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships
took place this Monday, April 19, at Oak Tree Country Club in
West Middlesex, Pa. Trailing Thomas More by 26 strokes after the
36-hole PAC Fall Invitational (which counts for one half of the
72-hole total which decided the 2009-10 PAC team champion),
defending PAC champion Washington & Jefferson was able to cut
into the Saints lead by firing a four-man total of 304, nine
strokes ahead of TMC (313). The Presidents now trail Thomas More
by 17 strokes (912-929) entering tomorrow's final round. NCAA
D-III provisional member Saint Vincent led all teams with a
four-man total of 302. In individual competition, Ted Marron
of W&J and Jeff Varga of Saint Vincent are tied for
the lead after both shot an one-over-par 72, followed by SVC's
Doug Mehall at 73 (+2). Complete Day

2010 PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BEGIN MONDAY (4/18/10)
The 2010 PAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships will
take place this Monday-Wednesday, April 19-21, at Oak Tree
Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa. The men play Monday (tee
times start at 10 a.m.) and Tuesday (8:30 a.m.), while the women
tee it up Tuesday (1 p.m.) and Wednesday (8:30 a.m.). The
36-hole event will be added to the
men's
and
women's results of the 36-hole PAC
Fall Golf Invitational for a 72-hole score to determine the team
champion. Washington & Jefferson is the defending champion for
both men and women, however, Thomas More holds a 27-stroke lead
over the President men after the two fall rounds. In women's
action, W&J leads Westminster by two strokes after fall play.
Individual All-PAC teams will be determined exclusively by this
week's 36-hole event. Day one tee times for

W&J'S CIESLINSKI CAPTURES REGIONAL TITLE (4/6/10)

captured the individual medalist title Monday at the NCAA
Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional on Monday in Hershey, Pa.
Cieslinski, who is the first-ever W&J and PAC golfer to win
regional medalist honors, fired a two-day, 36-hole total of
75-71-146 to win by three strokes. W&J finishes fourth in team
competition with a 309-311-620.
THOMAS MORE SWEEPS PAC FALL INVITATIONAL (9/29/09)
The 2009 PAC Men's Golf Fall
Invitational concluded on Tuesday, September 29 in rainy
conditions at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa.
Thomas More swept the team and individual awards, with the
Saints firing a four-man total of 293-306-599 to lead second
place Washington & Jefferson (312-314-626) by 27 strokes. The
Saints also posted the top two individual finishers, as medalist
Joe Ruzick (68-73-141, -1) topped teammate Brandon
Dulle (71-74-145, +3) by four strokes. The

Pa. Thomas More is in control halfway through the 36-hole
event, as the Saints fired a four-man total of 293 to lead
second place Washington & Jefferson (312) by 19 strokes. Leading
the way for the Saints is senior Joe Ruzick, who fired a
68 (-3) to lead teammate Brandon Dulle (71, E) by three
strokes on the individual leaderboard.
Tee times for the second and final men's round on Tuesday are

W&J FINISHES 14TH AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
The PAC champion Washington & Jefferson men's golf team
posted the best national finish in PAC golf history on May 16, as the
Presidents finished in 14th place at the 72-hole
NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships in Port
St. Lucie, Fla. W&J fired a four-day total of
304-294-309-318-1225 (+73) to finish 61 strokes behind champion
Oglethorpe (1164, +12). Leading the Presidents at the four-day
event was Brad Cieslinski (+13) and John Williams
(+15).

W&J MAKES CUT, MOVES UP TO 11TH AT NCAAs
The PAC champion Washington & Jefferson men's golf team
made a big move in the second round of
competition Thursday at the 72-hole
NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships, scheduled for May
13-16 in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The Presidents fired a four-man
score of 294 (+6) to move up from 21st place after 18 holes to a
tie for 11th place after 36 holes with 598 (+22), 23 strokes
behind first-place La Verne (575, -1). W&J's round of 294 was
the fourth-best round out of 36 teams competing at the
championship and ensured the Presidents made the cut for the
final 36 holes this weekend. Pacing W&J on day two was senior
Ryan Bashour with a career-best 71 (-1).
W&J 21st AFTER DAY 1 OF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

competition Wednesday at the 72-hole
NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships, scheduled for May
13-16 in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The Presidents fired a four-man
score of 304 (+16) and are 25 strokes behind team leader
Methodist (279, -9). W&J was led by Brad Cieslinski with
a 1-over par 73, good for a tie for 32nd place on the individual
leaderboard.
W&J SWEEPS 2009 PAC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

and 2009 PAC Women's Golf Championships
each concluded at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa.,
on
Tuesday, April 21, with Washington & Jefferson College capturing
both team titles. The men's race saw W&J fire a 36-hole total of
307-300-607, giving the Presidents a 28-stroke victory over
second-place Thomas More (1212) in the 72-hole championship,
which includes 36 holes played in September at the PAC Fall
Invitational. Medalist honors went to Saint Vincent's Doug
Mehall with an even-par 72-70-142. PAC MVP honors went to
Joe Ruzick of Thomas More, who won a sudden death playoff
with W&J's Brad Cieslinski after both fired a 36-hole
total of 147. On the women's side, both W&J and Grove City fired
18-hole totals of 368, but the Presidents captured the title via
a 54-hole score (including fall scores) of 1076, 53 strokes
ahead of the Wolverines (1129). The final women's 18-hole round,
scheduled for Wednesday, was canceled due to poor weather. W&J
junior Leslie Walker earned MVP honors for the second
straight year after carding an 84 Tuesday. At the conclusion of
the tournament, W&J first-year mentor Sean Dove earned
PAC Coach of the Year laurels for both men and women.
PAC FALL GOLF A PRESIDENTIAL AFFAIR: WILLIAMS, W&J MEN WIN 2008
TITLES
The 2008 PAC Fall Golf Invitational turned into a Presidential
affair at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa., on Tuesday,
September 30, as the Washington & Jefferson Presidents dominated
play in both men's & women's action. The
36-hole men's tournament concluded
with W&J firing a 285-292-577, 24 strokes ahead of second place
Westminster (601). In addition, John Williams of W&J took
medalist honors with a 71-68-139. The PAC Fall Golf Invitational counts for
half of the 2008-09 PAC golf championship, with the final 36 holes
to take place at Oak Tree in April 2009.
W&J TABS DOVE AS NEW HEAD COACH
Washington & Jefferson College
has hired Sean Dove as the Presidents’ new head men’s and
women’s golf coach.
Dove has spent the
last two seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, the
University of Akron. He
replaces Blake Tyson, who resigned after one year in the
position.
THREE W&J MEN'S GOLFERS LAUDED BY GCAA
Three
members of Washington
& Jefferson's PAC Championship men’s
golf team
recently earned national honors from the
Golf Coaches
Association of American (GCAA).
Senior Michael
Grasso and junior Marc Fillari were selected to the
Cleveland Division III All-America Scholar Team. In addition,
freshman Brad Cieslinski
was named to GCAA’s NCAA Division III All-Freshman Team. He was one
of only six freshmen on the national squad.
GRASSO NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
Washington & Jefferson senior men's golfer
Michael Grasso
has been tabbed to the
ESPN The Magazine College Division
Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team, released by the
College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on June 10.
Grasso, who led W&J to the PAC title and a trip to the NCAA Division
III Championships, recently graduated with a 3.90 culmulative
grade-point average (GPA) majoring in business administration.
WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON FINISHES TIED FOR 24TH AT 2008 NCAA
DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2008 PAC champion Washington & Jefferson men's golf team
fired a 328-320-648 to finish in a tie for 24th place at the
2008 NCAA Division III Men's
Golf Championship, at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Ga.
Senior Mike Grasso paced the Presidents with an 83-73-156,
finishing in a tie for 56th place.

W&J CAPTURES 2008 PAC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2008 PAC Golf Championships concluded on Monday-Tuesday, April 21-22 at Oak Tree
Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa., with Washington &
Jefferson College capturing both the men's & women's team
titles.
On the men's side, W&J fired a four-man
total of 302-297-599 to top the field and earn the first-ever PAC
automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championships. Saint Vincent, while ineligible for the PAC title due to its NCAA Division III provisional status, fired the low men's team score
in the eight-round championship series with 2448, five strokes ahead
of W&J. Medalist honors went to Brad Cieslinski of W&J, who
edged Tyler Fitch of Grove City in a one-hole playoff for the
title. The women's standings
saw W&J post a 357-350-707 to easily outdistance second place
Westminster. W&J sophomore Leslie Walker earned medalist
honors for the second consecutive year, while President first-year
head coach Blake Tyson was named 2008 PAC Men's & Women's
Golf Coach of the Year.
