Geneva Men's Team Has Busy Weekend
BEAVER FALLS — Though the Geneva College basketball team is just
three weeks into its season, it may face the two most interesting
days of the 2007-08 campaign tonight and Saturday.

victory over the Bison Tuesday on the opening night of the Wendy’s

Jackets' Drakeley Honored
Waynesburg University guard Tim Drakeley was named the
Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Drakeley is the
second straight Yellow Jacket to win the award. He totaled
career-highs with 31 points and eight rebounds, and also had five
steals while playing all 40 minutes in a 78-66 victory over LaRoche
College last Tuesday.

The Wheeling Jesuit men, 2-1 overall, 0-1 in WVC play following
a loss to Fairmont State last Saturday, will face a Bethany team

BEAVER FALLS - Traffic changes along Route 18 caused delays for
the crowd attending the Geneva College's senior day game with Grove
City. But it didn't really matter because all the excitement came in
the game's final 10 seconds. Geneva scored its first and only
touchdown with 9.7 seconds left to upend Grove City, 13-12.

They combined for more than 1,200 yards of offense,
an amazing 17 touchdowns and 59 first downs. The Washington &
Jefferson and Bethany college football teams certainly had their

Tornadoes Renew Grove City Rivalry
BEAVER FALLS - The Geneva and Grove City College football teams have
a long and storied rivalry. The teams first met in 1893 (a 0-0 tie)
and when the series ended in 1983 with a 10-0 Geneva win, it was one
of the longest rivalries in college football history. The series
resumes Saturday at 1:30 at Reeves Field and, while none of the
current players was even alive at the time, there will be memories
on the sideline.

Joey Cortez
finished 12th at the PAC Championships on Saturday. The Wolverines
captured their 18th consecutive team title. Cortez, a senior from
Ellwood City, finished in a time of 28:17 to earn Second-Team
All-PAC honors.

Bethel Park graduate Lauren Woodring ranks third in
scoring on the Grove City women's soccer team with 16 points.
Woodring, a sophomore forward, has scored six goals and assisted on

BEAVER FALLS - The Geneva College football team's primary task
Saturday will be stopping the leader rushing in Division III.
Waynesburg University running back Robert Heller is averaging 199.3
yards a game, 31 yards more than anyone in the nation at that level.
The freshman from Ringgold High School has rushed for 1.594 yards
and 20 touchdowns on 268 carries for the Yellow Jackets, ranked 25th
in Division III.
