Pa. — Thiel College junior designated
hitter Chris Dunham earned the
Presidents’ Athletic Conf. Hitter of the
Week award. Dunham set new Thiel (19-11)
single season records for home runs (12)
and RBIs (48) during a week when he hit
.429 with three homeruns, eight runs
scored and nine RBIs. He posted a .600
on-base percentage for 5-0 Tomcats last
week.

Cooper took second in the high jump at the Slippery
Rock Invitational. Cooper, a senior from Laurel, notched an effort

Grove City won its 18th consecutive
Presidents' Athletic Conference men's tennis championship, and the
Wolverines won all eight of the singles competitions and two of the
three doubles titles. John Moyer, a junior from Shady Side Academy,
captured the No. 1 singles title and was named the PAC player of the
year. He lost just one game in four sets in the semifinals and
finals after a first-round bye.

tasks for Ron Galbreath. Yet as Galbreath stood about 8 feet from
the basket, it was a struggle for him to put the basketball through

HUBBARD —
Hubbard High School senior John Madeline
Jr. will attend Thiel College in the
fall of 2008. He expects to compete in
baseball and football. A three-year
starter and three-year letterman in
football, Madline played cornerback and
kicked for the Eagles. In 2007 he made
41 -of-43 extra points and was 5-for-5
in field goal attempts, with his longest
being 40 yards. He was selected
All-Trumbull Athletic Conference.

Given the sometimes vast disparity in talent at the high school
level, softball pitchers throwing consecutive no-hitters is not
unheard of. Occasionally, they might even add a third, but that sort
of thing doesn't happen at the collegiate level. Well, at least not
very often. It did happen in Westmoreland County over the last few
weeks.

The Thomas More baseball team moved to 4-0 in the Presidents'
Athletic Conference with a 15-9 and 3-2 sweep of Waynesburg on
Saturday. Senior Adam Sargent (2-0) hurled four innings of relief,
yielding three hits, one earned run with three strikeouts to post
the victory. The left-hander from Walton-Verona followed up his game
one performance to earn the save in the nightcap - allowing one hit
over the final two innings.

Waynesburg University Freshman Adam Swingle established a
school record in the 1,500-meters Saturday, breaking the old
standard by nearly 10 seconds at the Washington & Jefferson College
Invitational. Swingle finished the race in 4:12.73, adding the 1,500
to the previously established mark in the 800.

Florida assistant Mike Summey has been selected as the new head
men’s basketball coach at Bethany College, as announced Tuesday by
President Dr. Scott D. Miller.

He is the 24th head coach at the school. He takes over for Aaron

University of North Florida assistant Mike Summey has been
selected as the new head men’s basketball coach at Bethany College,
as announced Tuesday by President Dr. Scott D. Miller. Summey was

three PAC titles in the last four seasons and five in the last eight
seasons.

633 career victories, has been recovering from a stroke suffered in
