University volleyball team was named to the Presidents' Athletic
Conference Academic Honor Roll for the fall semester. The honor roll
is for students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher. Bodine, a first-year
player, played in 18 matches with eight kills, eight digs and seven
blocks.

Leader
In addition to playing basketball and softball while at Center
High School, Christine Slater also ran cross country.
She was still running long distances this basketball season, but
in a more confined space.
Slater was one of only seven players on the Grove City College
women's basketball team this season and the Wolverines' leading
scorer.

Mike Medved stands out on the Saint Vincent College men's

A barrage of three-point field goals from Westminster sent the
Waynesburg University men's basketball team home after the first
round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament. The
Titans hit 15 three-pointers, including four apiece from Ryne
Murray, Steve Bielich and Max Spinner, as they defeated the Yellow
Jackets (6-19), 94-78, Tuesday at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

and attempts an uncontested shot. No big deal, right? Well,
free throws are a big deal. They do matter - much more than some
basketball players seem to realize. Free throws are often the
difference between winning and losing, especially in the final
minute of a tight, tense game, like the Presidents' Athletic
Conference men's tournament contest Tuesday night between Washington
& Jefferson and Grove City.

day well. It was Sept. 9, 2006, and he was heading to the 10th tee
at a golf outing when he got the phone call. It was from Richard
Glass, the father of Westminster guard Bobby Glass.

The Thomas More men's and women's basketball teams are the No. 1
seeds in this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournaments and
will have home court throughout the tournaments. The women's team

Area Freshmen Playing Roles At Westminster
The Titans open conference tournament play tonight...Two area
freshman on the Westminster College basketball team have been
getting some playing time this season. Anthony DeFelice (Poland) and
Cameron McCleary (Newton Falls) have played in 24 of the Titans’ 25
games, averaging 15.5 and 12.0 minutes, respectively — with three
starts each — including last Saturday’s 88-80 win over Geneva.

Beckwith, a freshman guard, made 11 of 15 shots and scored a

spotlight belonged to Michawn Rich.
Rich, a senior on the Golden Tornadoes' women's basketball team,
carried Geneva, much as she has done for most of the season, to a

Ex-Bellefonte swimmer Kate Wilt had a big weekend at the Grove
City Invitational/President’s Athletic Conference meet over the
weekend. Wilt, a freshman, posted provisional NCAA qualifying times
in the 500 freestyle, where she placed second in 5:07.49; the 200
breaststroke, where she was second in 2:26.7; and as a member of the

Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) "Pink Zone" game when it hosts

The Saints won just three games his first year on campus as a

It's business as usual for the men's basketball team at St.
Vincent College.
As the regular season winds down, the Bearcats are closing in on
another 20-win season.
With a 19-3 record and three games remaining in the season after

that D.P. Harris' team will reach the 20 wins for the fourth time in

Leechburg Senior Delays Football For Military
Leechburg senior Tyler Bollinger
recently committed to play football at Westminster College, but his
debut on the college gridiron could be postponed by a tour of duty
in Iraq. Bollinger, 18, is a Private E-2 in the Pennsylvania Army
National Guard after undergoing five weeks of training last summer
before his senior year of high school.

400 with an effort of 4:39.95 in a time trial. She had a time of
25.43 in the 50 freestyle as well.

Emily Hays of Boardman has shot her way into the career
1,000-point club on the Washington & Jefferson College women’s
basketball team in Washington, Pa.
Hays, a 6-0 senior forward from Boardman where she was coached
by Ron Moschella, recently became the 11th player in W&J women’s
basketball history to score 1,000 career points.

The Thomas More College women's basketball team moved up in the
NCAA Division III national rankings this week, improving to No. 10
in the d3hoops.com poll.Accurate shooting helped the Saints get
there. They entered the week ranked first among 409 NCAA Division
III teams in field goal percentage at 49.1 percent.

Hays Hits 1,000 In W&J Win
Senior forward Emily Hays scored her 1,000th career point during
Washington & Jefferson's 60-41 PAC victory against Westminster. With
13 points in the contest, Hays now has 1,003 career points in 102
games

Grove City College’s Christine Slater (Center) averaged 16.5
points and 6.5 rebounds per game in two games last week. Her week
included 18 points (on 9-of-10 shooting) in a win over Westminster
and 15 in a loss to W&J.
Waynesburg’s Ryan Courneen (Quaker Valley) scored 12 points in a
loss to St. Vincent.

are ranked nationally, pulling away in the second half for a
Presidents' Athletic Conference road victory. Leading 32-28 at the
half, Thomas More had a 20-3 run in the second half to pull away
from the Yellow Jackets.

Slumping Raiders Lose Fifth Straight
Bumps, bruises and flu-like symptoms. That’s what the
Shippensburg University wrestling team is battling right now.
With some wrestlers already on the shelf, and others competing sick,
the Raiders dropped their fifth-straight decision on Tuesday night,
a 19-16 loss to Division III Waynesburg.

Thomas More promotes cancer awareness - The Thomas More
women's basketball team will take part in this year's Women's
Basketball Coaches' Association's "Pink Zone." The WBCA Pink Zone
initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA to assist in
raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in
communities and beyond.

Kate Wilt(Bellefonte, Grove City) won the 50 freestyle in 26:41
and the 100 freestyle in 56.92 in a triangular meet with
Pitt-Bradford and Penn State-Behrend Friday night and swam on the
winning 200 freestyle relay against Wooster Saturday. That win was
the 12th of the season, the most of any Grove City team.

Krista Beechy (Hiland) and Jayme Caldwell are performing well for
the Wolverines. Beechy has started all 18 games for GC, averaging
8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds. Caldwell, a 5-8 freshman out of
Smithville, is scoring 3.1 points and adding 2.4 rebounds in 17
games off the bench.

points in the first half to lead Division III No. 12-ranked TMC

Lucic-Jozak Leads W&J To Romp Over Grove City
Josip Lucic-Jozak had another big game for Washington &
Jefferson and kept moving up the school's all-time scoring list.
Lucic-Jozak had his sixth double-double of the year with 20 points
and 11 rebounds to lead the Presidents to a 75-41 rout of Grove City
in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest Saturday afternoon at
Henry Menorial Center.
