Two Grove City College athletes earned Division III All-South honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Wednesday afternoon. In baseball, sophomore catcher Marcus Magister (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) earned First Team recognition while senior second baseman Amy Fisher (Streetsboro, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) landed on the ECAC Second Team for softball.

Multiple Lancaster-Lebanon League all-star honoree Tanner Edgell, a dominating two-way player who split time with Donegal and Conestoga Valley during his high school football-playing days, has picked a college. The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) today named senior Westminster College baseball player John Izzo (New Castle, Pa./Union) an ECAC Division III South All-Star as a first-team selection. Izzo becomes the first Titan baseball player since 2002 to earn recognition on an ECAC All-Star team.

The NCAA Division III Softball Tournament contest between Hiram and Thomas More was suspended due to darkness after nine innings of play yesterday, tied at 11. This morning the game resumed at 9:54 AM, Thomas More's catcher Jennifer Weis hit a two-run homerun which gave the Saints a 13-11 lead entering the bottom of the tenth.

Thomas More Wins Softball Title

The Thomas More college softball team swept a doubleheader from Waynesburg to win the Presidents' Athletic Conference regular season title. It was the Saints' fifth league championship this school year. Freshman first baseman Brittany Wegman (East Central High School) hit a three-run home run Saturday to set the single season record with 12.

... Grove City's Derek Kruse (Cardinal) has had an outstanding junior season, a campaign that was highlighted by his first-place finish in the 1,500 in the Slippery Rock Invitational on April 11. Kruse also finished third in the 800 at Slippery Rock and was the top Division III runner in the event. The week before, Kruse was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week after earning a pair of wins in a meet at California (Pa.).

Thomas More College announced today assistant coach Jeff Rogers has been named the new head men’s basketball coach. Rogers is the eighth head men’s basketball coach in school history. He had served as an assistant coach at Thomas More for the past two seasons.

The Thomas More College men's golf team shot a 609 (308-301) to finish second on Wednesday (at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Spring Championships. Thomas More finished second overall with a 1,212 during the 72-hole PAC Championships, which consisted of 36 holes at the PAC Fall Invitational and 36 holes at the PAC Spring Championships, all played at the Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa.

Thomas More college baseball coach Jeff Hetzer admits he's a bit arrogant when it comes to teaching hitting, but his results indicate that arrogance is well placed. For at least the past seven of the nine seasons Hetzer has been the team's head coach (that's as far back as statistics could be traced) the Saints have hit over .300 and averaged at least six runs and fewer than five strikeouts per game.
